Can we haggle if we make a phone order instead of an internet order?

If I call Lenovo and have them build me a T61 with the 25% discount, can I haggle a bit and get discounts that are not available using the internet? I used to be able to do this with Dell. Stuff like free hard drive upgrades.

Also, Discover Card offers double cashback bonus awards for Lenovo. $60 becomes $120. I can get an ecertificate or a coupon mailed to me. I don't want to use my Discover Card because my AMEX extends the warranty by one full year.

What's better, phone orders or internet orders when dealing with Lenovo?

Dell is one of the few large ones that I know who will. I can't speak for Lenovo, but it never hurts to try.

The easiest way to try to get a haggle is to play the role of "dumb consumer". Know what you want going in, but don't let them know that. Get a price, compare it with what you can configure online so you go into the deal fully armed. Get them to name off variations, options and configurations. For some companies, the longer and more interested you seem, the more likely they'll be to strike a deal. For them, losing 5% on a sticker price still means they get the other 95% - and a sale they might not have gotten either.

But if you seem like you want to haggle they'll be less likely to work with you. If you seem uncertain of what you're looking for, they may be more likely to try to come up with that sweet deal to reel you in. It all depends on the CSR you get, too.

This may entirely depend on your luck when you speak with the representative. Some stick strictly by the book by not allowing any further discounts. Others may allow for a little more price reduction.

The problem is lenovo doesn't realize that if they don't realize the 5% discount scenario...they would be better off giving a 5% discount and making the sale then not giving the discount and losing the sale. Unfortunately they have a product that is good enough where they assume the product is going to make the sale regardless of a discount. They assume everybody that is calling in about prices is going to buy a lenovo product.

It would complicate things if you were able to negotiate some on the price. Besides, most of its money made is probably corporate sales.

I see Lenovo quality as being between dell/hp and apple. Does anyone try to haggle with Apple?

Apple is a cult, one must be punished by death if asking Apple for a discount or a resonable price.

Dell is like dealing with a flea market.

I've got a Discover Card and $60 cash rebates become $120 with Lenovo. I'm worried that the 25% off sale does not apply to the Discover cashback electronic coupon.

I plan to use my AMEX to get the one year extended warranty which Discover does not offer.

There's so many coupons floating around right now, stacked with Tailormade and fatwallet (which can only be done online.) I think you'd be better off ordering online. Even if you don't want to buy right now, make a quote.

How many mpore times will people talk out their ass about tailormade-no more tailormade discounts for the last two + months.
Don't parrot old crap and pretend you know what you are talking about.
