Can the fingerprint reader be added onto a T61p?

Hey guys, I ordered my T61p WITH fingerprint reader but they made a mistake on my order and shipped me the T61p without a fingerprint reader.

I'm so happy with my T61p (good bright screen, no dead pixels, etc) that I don't want to risk sending it back to them just for a fingerprint reader.

To be honest I am on the fence about whether I even WANT the fingerprint reader, I kinda think it's dumb.

However, Lenovo needs to compensate me, I did pay for the fingerprint reader.

What I'm wondering is, can I just get them to send me another palm rest, with the fingerprint reader on it? Or is there more hardware required inside to support it?

My guess is that it is probably just a little connector that all the motherboards have, and if you get the palm rest that has a fingerprint reader, you could just plug it in. I am not sure though.

Does anyone know? Or, anyone with a fingerprint reader on your T61p, do you feel adventurous or curious enought o take off your palm rest and check for me? :D

If that doesn't work out, I suppose i could just demand that they give me back my $35 or whatever it cost for the reader. NO WAY am I going to send back my awesome T61p and risk something happening to it, for such a small reason as a fingerprint reader I will probably never use anyway. I need this laptop too much to send it away right now...

I had the palm rest off before, when i was upgrading the RAM to 4 gigs, but I didn't notice an extra connection in there.

Pretty sure all the fingerprint reader parts are mounted on the palm rest. I don't think there are any logic chips on the planar that support it, so you could probably just order the palmrest w/fingerprint reader part.

I took the palmrest off to look at it.
The fingerprint reader cable goes into the same connector as the touchpad, the wire going from touchpad and reader just merge into one and go to the same connector on the motherboard.
So I guess you could ask for a new palmrest.
    Hope this helps.

Yes the FPR connects to the planar via a small ribbon cable, so a new palm rest should be all that is needed.
