Can the Y580 fit two 2.5" hard drives? How about a SATA II drive?

I have a 7200rpm 320GB hard drive that I would love to use if possible. The ship date on Lenovo's website is apparently off by an entire month and the laptops on NewEgg all have 5400rpm hard drives.

The Y580 has only 1 HDD port, 1 Optical bay, and 1 mSATA port. However, you can sacrifice the DVD, get a caddy and put your HDD in the Optical bay. That's the only way you'll get your 2 HDD. The HDD and the mSATA ports are SATA III (for sure). I think the Optical bay is SATA II.

Another thing you could do is get an enclosure and use it as an external drive via usb. If your looking for speed, you can buy a mSATA instead and install the OS there and use your HDD only as a storage. From what I've read, is better to get a mSATA above 100 GB.

    Hope this helps :)
