I have my eyes set on the T410, but after reading several reviews, I'm worried that it is not able to play 1080p videos smoothly. Can anyone with a T410 with integrated graphics and an i5 processor tell me their experience?

If there's another laptop (like an Asus or Lenovo) that is similar to the T410 but that is able to play 1080p videos smoothly, then please post about it.

The T410 will have more than enough power to play 1080p videos fluidly - my T500's integrated 4500MHD and the less-powerful Core 2 Duo P8700 can play 1080p content very smoothly with no problems at all.

Thank you for the reply. I figured as much at by checking out the specs, but once the reviews started mentioning that the video performance on the T410 with the i7 processor and dedicated graphics card was "lousy", I started getting worried.

If anyone else can comment with their experience then that would be phenominal. If the issue turns out to be none existent, then I will most likely purchase the T410.

Those review that classify the video performance as "lousy" are actually talking about the 3d video performance of the card when doing 3d rendering or gaming. The NVS3100 card is not a high performer, but then again the T410 is not a gaming laptop.

Any current T, W, X, or L series Thinkpad will be able to play 1080p video files.

Here's a youtube video of a T410 with the integrated graphics playing COD fairly smoothly.

I don't know about that. Full screen 1080p on my x201 is choppy, but non-full screen is not.

If you have it set up properly it will be fine. Make sure if you want to use DXVA that you are using an appropriate video decoder. If you are decoding using the CPU, all should be fine by default.

@marlinspike: what gpu and what media player and kind of files?

I need to correct myself. The choppiness is only in chrome. In IE 1080p full screen is fine.
It's the Intel HD and the file I was testing it with is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwsYrPsxMQw

Looks like I'm going back to IE as default browser.

marlinspike: Try the latest flash. Make sure to close all instances of web browsers first.

Well, only flash in full screen in 1080p (720p or lower is fine) and only in Chrome...it's fine in IE.

Install the latest flash and then we can see if it will be alright in Chrome.

Already done, still choppy in Chrome. Either way, this is going OT, I just thought I had some counter point to offer the OP, but wanted to correct myself when I discovered it's browser specific. I do appreciate the help, I just don't want to hi-jack the guy's thread.
