Hey. I love my T61 except for one glitch. Sometimes, on battery power, my computer locks up when i close the lid. I have no option other than to press and hold the power button for a "hard reboot."

According to my control panel's "advanced power settings," my computer goes into sleep when i close the lid.

The problem usually occurs when I quickly close and reopen my lid. I am using Vista Ultimate.

Any ideas? What other info do you need?

    Thx.

If you set it to hibernate, does the same thing happen?

@emporium. I read the articles, they suggested i get sp 1, which i already have then apply for a hotfix. I'll let you know when i get the hotfix.

@bog, I'm trying it in hibernate right now.

@bog. I just switched my setting to hibernate and closed and opened my lid. After I opened it, my computer appeared to shut down. when i powered back up, windows resumed (no microsoft startup screen). I assume this means hibernate works.

Still, I'd like to put my computer into sleep rather than hibernate (faster resume times). Any other advise? I'm suprised no other Lenovo users have experienced this problem.

    No problem :)

The advanced power settings is really up to the user's preferences. There's really no 'perfect' configuration and will depend on your usage habits.

I sort of have a problem like that. For some reason, when I make my computer sleep and close the lid, it freezes, and never finishes the sleeping process. However, if I leave the lid open and wait for it to finish sleeping (about 10 secs), it's okay to close the lid.

when it "locks up", does the screen go blank and you can't wake up the computer? if that the case, i think some people fixed it with a bios update.

for me whenever i go on standby on battery mode, it would go to a blank screen and everything will be unresponsive (caps lock doesnt work, no loading from the hard drive) so i have to do a hard reset.
