On a laptop configured with Optimus and quad core -- can you disable optimus in the BIOS to allow the use of a 90 watt power supply (vs a 125 one)?

Or can I just use a 90 watt travel supply anyways without much of a problem for typical office work loads?

No, you can not disable Optimus.

On the T540p with Quad and the GT730M, I would not recommend to use a 90 W power supply. You need to use the 135 W power supply.

You can't disable optimus, but you can prevent the GT 730M from executing.

Head to the Nvidia Control Panel, 3D settings, choose "Integrated Graphics" and then restart the PC. Thus, the 730M will never kick in.

Source: Own a similar laptop, and using it with a 90W adapter works fine when i disable my 755M in that manner.
