I'm really clueless in this, so please bear with me :p

Can you downgrade from Vista to XP using the rescue & recovery cd received from lenovo for the same model, without buying XP disc?

If you do buy XP disc, it can only be used to downgrade ONE laptop because of license issue?

    Thanks :D

There is no legal way to just take a single recovery disc, and use it on all your computers. One license, one computer.

If the machine type like 2007 or 1951 is the same, the discs will work. They'll probably work too if the machine types are different, though you may have driver issues. The rest is a bit of a gray area. If the machine(s) came with Vista Business or Ultimate, they included the right to downgrade to XP Pro. It would be my interpretation, for the little it's worth, you'd be within your rights to downgrade the machine using the discs. If it came with Vista Home Basic or Home Premium, you'd need to buy a separate license to downgrade it. Tread lightly. We do not condone piracy here.
