    Can a dedicated graphics card be removed from a G770 ?

    Hi,

    The only two years Toshiba is now about to trash, graphics card is overheating and have now damaged the HDD, unit starts to shut down. The usual signs that its over for this notebook. This is the third notebook trashed cause melt down of the graphics card. Thanks good for the new Sandy Bridge processors.

    My question is - can I remove the silly ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6650 graphics card which seems to have found its way into most Lenovo G770 i5-2410M notebooks - and only use the build-in HD 3000 graphics card ?

    ( Dont ever by a notebook with a dedicated graphics card, unless absolutely neccesary )

    It's going to soldered to the motherboard. I don't really see the problem.... Just don't use the dedicated card if you don't need it. If anything, your problems stem from poor thermal design of the laptop rather than the GPU.
