    Can a PIII x60 use an upgraded chip!

    I have received an x60 PIII unit. Can the unit pc board support another type of faster chip? If so, which one.

    The x60 came with a Core Duo, or Core 2 Duo series chip. Perhaps you have another version of the X-series?

    That's what I'm thinking. My X30 has a P-III-M chip, perhaps that's the one you have?

    You are correct; the laptop is X22 (I had been looking at X60's and carried this reference onto the Forum).

    Nope, The X2* series has the CPU soldered to the motherboard.

    Upgrade to a faster hard drive and more memory. Even if you can upgrade to a faster Pentium III, the hard drive and memory will give you a bigger performance boost.
