Can X200 ultrabase be used on X200 without powerplug?

Yes, I believe so. Or at least I have tried that to the extent that the ethernet port is blinking. I can check more extensively for you later on (current my laptop is docked with no battery and i don't want to shut down and i dont have hibernate enabled.

I'm pretty sure the UltraBase can run off battery power. All of the bases for the earlier X series models (e.g. x31 and x40) were designed to function as a method to convert a single spindle machine to a two spindle machine (at the penalty of weight/thickness) on the go as well as the standard dock function.

A girl at work takes her ultrabase + X200 onto the plane in order to watch DVDs. So yeah.

In case it hasn't been answered sufficiently yet; yes, it can And btw, I LOVE the ultrabase! Best purchase ever! Recommended to buy an extra power adapter though, so you won't have to unplug it every time. I bring my X200 to work, so I go in and out of the Ultrabase daily.
