Seems that the WXGA+ LED backlit displays have been gone for a while with no sign of returning soon.
They are, however, available via ebay and such, so I wonder:
If I purchased a T400 with a CCFL display or a lower res LED backlit display, would they be able to install a panel I purchased myself to avoid warranty issues?
I have heard of people requesting panel exchanges before, so it seems possible.

Any information on any of the subjects covered would be great. (Installation, LED WXGA+ availability in the US, cost, etc.)

I would think that would be highly unlikely.

I do not think Lenovo would do that, But you may be able to do it yourself. However, I am just guessing. I have absolutely no first had knowledge of this. One thing though, if it is possible, I think it would be much easier to change a wxga LED to a wxga+ LED than a CCFL. Changing a CCFL requires many more parts than simply changing the screen.

Check out the last paragraph of the long post I just made "talking serious repair". there is some information/assumptions about changing screens.

I would to hear from anyone with actual first had information here as I think Lenovo is having problems, (for whatever reason), providing the screen options many people want.

looking at the part list of my T400 built, i notice that there are a few more parts than just the panel to it. So it might be a bit more complicated than just swapping out the panels.
