    Can I use system recovery when I install a new HD ?

    I just bought a new HD for my T60 .Can I use the system recovery discs for a fresh start for operating system (XP pro)?

    Yes, you can. Just F1 and change the boot order to CD-ROM.

    Yes, most certainly.

    Which recovery discs will you be using?

    The ones that Windows lets you create, or Lenovo's?

    Either will provide the drivers. However, the Lenovo discs will only restore your computer to the factory default settings - your personal files will be gone.

    The Windows CDs that you can burn yourself will return your computer to its state when the CDs were created.

    I created them a few days after I received the computer .I thinks it`s 5 discs .

    So if you use them your computer will be restored to how it was a few days after you received the computer. If you want a more recent restore point, create a new set of discs.
