    Can I update the BIOS w/o Supervisor Password ?

    I know we can't discussing by-passing/hacking passwords. That is NOT my intent in this thread.

    I just bought a used IBM T30 and the seller does not know the Supervisor Password.

    I would like to know if I can still do BIOS updates even though I don't know the Supervisor Password.

    As far as I know, a computer will not go far enough into the boot sequence to access any drives to do the update without inputing a supervisor password.

    Thread is now closed becuase someone(post was deleted) posted a method that could get rid of the BIOS password and flashing a BIOS can result in BIOS setting(including BIOS password) being reset. Contact the manufacturer for assistance or return the laptop to the seller.
