Hey,
I was just wondering. I have a T41p right now which has a cracked motherboard. I'm looking to get a 500 in order to replace it. I've read that you can swap out the keyboard in the T500 for the earlier t61, but does that apply for the t41 as well?
Also, is it possible/worth it to toss the 512 mb ram into the new machine (making it either 2.5 or 3.5 gb)?
Shrug, just trying to get as much use as I can out of this old thing before I'm forced to junk it.
Thanks for any help you guys are able to give

I don't know about the keyboard but the memory will not work because the T500 uses DDR3 RAM while the T41p uses DDR2 RAM. Although your old ram may fit into the socket for the T500, the T500 will not recognize it and your computer will most likely not boot up.

Ahh, that makes sense. Oh well, figured it was worth asking. Thanks for the quick answer

Actually the T41p uses DDR1, but yeah, the ram won't fit or work in the T500.
At the least, you could put the hard drive into an external enclosure.
Can I put parts from earlier gen models into a t500?
