I have a spare i7-620M (arrendale) CPU that I would like to try in a T420 (sandy bridge i5-2520m) computer. Are the i5 and i7 pin compatible?

Would I notice any increase in performance?
    All thoughts welcome!

That CPU will not work in a T420.

As ajkula66 stated, a i7-620M is an Arrandale CPU, which is a completely different socket (G1) compared to Sandy Bridge (G2). I don't think the pins even fit, I would not attempt it.

Ok, I'll save it as a spare for my T410 :)
