    Hi,

The folder in subject is 4.4 Gb on my small 80G SSD. Can I delete that and still run System Update at a later point?

I suspect that it's not essential (there's no corresponding folder on my T420s) but, if you have access to a DVD burner, make a copy on DVD before deleting it.

Alright, if you don't have that folder I should be able to delete it. However good advice to back it up first. I am zipping it right now and it should be able to fit on a DVD.

    Thanks.

I've looked a bit harder and find that my session folder is under Program Files (x86).

Anything updated using the ThinkVantage System Update gets dumped there so that it's a folder that will progressively get bigger.

However, I tried removing the Session folder by renaming it and System Update complained about missing language files so it clearly needs some of the files / folders. Perhaps those dated on your computer birthday. It didn't complain when I only renamed one of the more recent folders containing a 270MB .exe and some smaller files.

Most of the ones that look like downloaded packages (8 character length) are fine. Avoid deleting Billboard, System, Temp, updates.ser, and QuestResponse.xml.

If this helps, on a fresh install of ThinkVantage System Update, i only have the "system" sub-folder in the "session" directory.

It helps. I just deleted the contents of this directory except for the system sub-folder, ran system update and it worked fine ( though it had to install a new version of system update). Just recovered 4.64GB of space on my boot SSD.

Ugh, yet another program writing stuff on my SSD. Any way to reconfigure it to use another drive letter? Short of screwing around with junction points, that is.
