Can AC adapters of different TP interchangeable to use?
I have one thinkpad 15.1' with AC Adapters part no. 92P1108 in school and one thinkpad 14.1' with AC Adapters part no. 92P1104 at home
I wonder I can use one AC Adapters for BOTH Thinkpad so that when I carry my own thinkpad from home to school, I don't need to bring the AC Adapters.

The newer ThinkPads (x/r/t 61, and the new 200,300,400,500 series) all use 20 volt AC adapters. These are interchangeable as long as they are of adequate wattage.
ThinkPads that have discrete GPUs (some, T/R, and all W series) ship with a 90 watt adapter, vs. the 65 watt that ships with the X series and integrated GPU models. You can use a 90 watt adapter with a computer that only needs 65 watts, but the 65 watt adapter may be insufficient for a ThinkPad with a discrete GPU.
The older adapters (different plug design) are of a lower voltage, and are not compatible. -
jonlumpkin is a thinkpad master.

can the ac adapter that comes with a t400 with discrete graphics be used in europe. obviously a plug adapter is needed, but besides that is it fine?

The adapters are usable worldwide, they can be used from 110 to 240 volt, I've used mine in Europe, Australia, and in the states without any problems, but yes remember the correct converter plug.

great, thanks guys!

If you got an extra adapter, is there any point to keep it, or better just sell it? I haven't heard someone's adapter failed and had to get a new one...

Is there a point to need an extra adapter, that's my question. -
That way I never get somewhere and have to smack myself in the head because I forgot my AC adapter. YMMV -
Good point, especially because the adapter is so heavy to carry! Thanks

I keep one at home, one in the office, and one in my car. Usually this is more than enough to keep me from ever having to carry one around with me. I just grab the one in my car when I know I will need it.
Also, something to note for S10 owners, the older thinkpad adapters (like for T2x-T4x and many more) work fine with the S10 and S10e. -

I have two AC adapters, both 65W 20V. However, the cord that goes with each is slightly different: one says "125V 7A", the other "125V 3A". Does it make difference? What difference and how much?
-
Well, one cord can take a wattage of 375 (watts), the other can take one of, hold on, 875 (watts). In other words, both are way overkill, so in practice there is no difference whatsoever. Supposedly, the 7A-one is thicker and/or shorter. It should be, all else being equal (thicknes of the rubber covers around the wires, namely).
It means that 7A one can be used for something that draws 875 watts (7Amps @ 125V) – so you can use it to plug in a huuuge clock radio without fear of burning the place down
