I would like a little help from anyone who has received their new Y400/Y500 with GT 750M. Can you please:

    1. Provide a screenshot using the latest version GPU-Z 0.7.0
    2. Tell me what your highest GPU temperature is in a burn test such as FurMark, MSI Kombustor, or OCCT without external cooling (e.g. cooling pad)
    3. Tell me what your ASIC quality is (probably doesn't work for 700M series yet)

I am especially curious whether or not the 750M uses the same GK107 core as the 650M. AnandTech reported that the 750M uses GK106 or GK107 and potentially GK208. I fact, the chip shots provided to them show the 750M as a 384-core GK106.

A lot of things regarding the 700M series are up in the air at this point, but it seems that the entire lineup will be a Kepler refresh with higher clocks and voltages and slightly improved performance across the board. This is similar to the Fermi refresh we saw moving from the 400M series to the 500M series, but the difference in this case is that we will not be seeing optimizations in power consumption and heat output as we did then. Not to say that Kepler is weak in any of those areas in to begin with; the first-generation Fermi cards, both mobile and desktop, were notorious for being hot and hungry.

As far as the 750M is concerned, what I have read from owners is that it performs a bit better than the 650M courtesy of increased clocks and voltage but also runs hotter. This backs up my speculation of improved performance but not improved power usage and thermals.

Ran for 3:30 (minutes) and got to 77C.
Can't get ASIC quality, not supported.

Thanks for the screenshots. Too bad this card is too new. All the important sections which would tell us what core it is are grayed out.

Yeah that temperature is a few degrees higher than the 650M but it makes sense. You should probably run it longer than 3:30 as it is still climbing, albeit slowly. I usually run FurMark for 10-15 minutes to let it reach its absolute peak.

So how exactly does the GPU Boost work in this machine? Does it start at 941 MHz and Boost to 967 and then to 1058 if thermal headroom allows, or does it start at 967?

Thanks. What we really need is a GPU-Z update. ;) Too many grayed out "unknown" boxes.

I noticed that it is still PCIe 2.0. I think we have to wait until Haswell before we get PCIe 3.0 in notebooks. The timing of this GPU refresh is really odd because Haswell is literally right around the corner and you'd think Lenovo would wait to package Haswell and 700M together.

Looking at my GPU-Z log for the Furmark run it goes 135>614>940>1045>1058

Sorry for bothering you so much, but could you post a screenshot of GPU Shark as wel? It's included with FurMark. It would be really good information to know how those clocks correspond with the p-states and how GPU Boost figures into all of that. The 614 and 1045 just seem like random intermediary numbers to me but what do I know.

You should make your own thread or ask in the owner's lounge.

They (sorta) are, but this thread is about the Y400/Y500, not to mention the last post was about 6 months ago.

And the 755's are the new models, though i wouldn't be surprised to see the Y420/Y520 with Nvidia 850M in Q1 2014.
