    Hi guys,

I bought Lenovo Z510 with Pentium 3550M with the idea to replace it later. And now the time has come.
I want to ask if its possible to update to any i7 MQ cpu? I noticed the same laptop being sold with i7-4700MQ, but I'm worried about heat issues. Will additional cooling be required for this? Or should I just stick to the i7 M cpu update?

    Thanks

    Thank you for the replay!
I saw the video from a post that you made in another thread, it will be really helpful.

I was mostly worried for the heat issues, but I guess its gonna be okay.

    Thank you again. :)

You probably should verify the bios supports the microcode for the new processor.....

Considering the 4700MQ can be had on select models of the Z510 i don't see this being impossible. I don't know about the Z510 but the Y510p (very similar laptop) can be upgraded all the way to i7-4930MX.

Check your laptop's Hardware Maintenance manual for a full list of all supported CPU's in the notebook.
