I know that the NBR T500 review mentions a little bit about the temperatures of the T500 they tested. However, I need more details than mentioned in the review.
Ideally, I would like to hear from other NBR users who own a T500 with either a T9400, T9550 or T9600 and ATI/Intel switchable graphics. Assuming you use Power Manager, please apply maximum performance to set clock at max and maximum battery life to set clock to min.
Please post idle temps as follows:
1) ATI Graphics is on
a) Maximum performance (2.8 GHz for T9600)
b) Maximum battery life (800 MHz for T9600)
2 Intel Graphics is on
a) Maximum performance (2.8 GHz for T9600)
b) Maximum battery life (800 MHz for T9600)
I'd appreciate measurements using Core Temp 0.99.7.
Please also include (approximate) ambient temps as well as the surface the laptop is sitting on, i.e. glass or steel table, wooden desk, etc. Please don't use a passive laptop cooler. If possible let it idle for about 10 minutes before taking the temp. Trying to be as scientific as possible
Let the measurements begin. Thanks!

There must be other T500 users who can report some temperatures.
If it helps, temps for T500 with P-series CPU are welcome as well (P8400/P8600/P8700/P8800/P9500/P9600/P9700).
If you don't have ATI graphics that is fine as well. Just report the temps running on Intel Graphics.
Edit: I just undervolted my T9600 as well, so it should definitely be on par if not better than a stock P9700 (28W). Idling around 34 degrees at full frequency (2.8GHz) with Intel graphics on. Max temp after running at full CPU load for 10 minutes is 64 degrees. Ambient temp is around 21 degrees. Very impressed with the undervolt experience.
I am thinking P-series CPUs are just undervolted versions of T-series - but it must be complicated than that. Any CPU experts care to shed some light on this?
All temps were measured using Core Temp 0.99.7 -
I have a W500 with a T9400 and an ATI card similar enough to compare. I will get you some temps soon!

Thanks MastahRiz, appreciate it.
Lead_org and MidnightSun I am calling you out as well - I know you both have a T500
And MidnightSun I have already read your excellent T500 review, but that is not going to cut it when it comes to temps -
I don't have a T500, I have a T61 instead but since this thread needs some temps going i'm going to chip in from my T9300 (I hope you don't mind ).
I haven't downclock or undervolt my CPU. Core Temp reports around 39c/46c (@2.5GHz) idling in Power Sourced Optimised (AC Power). Yes my CPU has the "one core is hotter than the other syndrome" so maybe my sensor is misaligned by a few notches. Oh well my T9300 did come second hand from an Alienware laptop but it is on average 10c cooler in stock form than my previous T7100 CPU.Attached Files:

Thanks Hearst, much appreciated. Albeit a 800MHz Penryn the T9300 is very similar to i.e. the T9400, so I can definitely use your figures as part of the comparison.
Your idle temps would be about the same as my non-undervolted T9600 temps at a bit higher ambient temps (23 degrees). Is your T61 with discrete or integrated graphics?
As for your temp differences between the cores, I would suggest re-seating the heatsink and applying some new thermal paste while you are at it. I had the same core mismatch going on with my P8400 with a difference of up to 14 degrees. This was however fixed after doing the aforementioned. Having said that, 7 degrees is not a big deal - but I am used to a maximum difference of around 3 degrees when everything is as it should be. -
Yes I am using the integrated graphics version. I probably would need reseat the heatsink and do the paste again quite soon to see if it makes a difference. But most likely is the metal sheet on the CPU thermal sensor that is just out by the smallest of margins.

my T500 is at depot waiting for a new motherboard (that can take a while, especially with the motherboard on back order) ........ i will have a look at my friend's T500 with the 4500 MHD GPU and P8600 CPU.

Sorry, haven't been on NBR much the past few days!
Well, my T500 does have switchable graphics, but it has a P8700, not a T-series processor.
In any case, here are my measurements using Core Temp 0.99.7 (roughly 5 min idling after each power state change):
Ambient temperature
19-21 C
Intel graphics
Maximum performance: 34-36 C
Maximum battery life: 30-32 C
ATI graphics
Maximum performance: 37-40 C
Maximum battery life: 36-38 C
Personally I find that setting the power state to "Adaptive" in Power Manager is the best setting: no performance loss when you need it, and idle temperatures are the same as Maximum battery life settings.
EDIT: Oh shoot! I didn't see the part about passive laptop coolers. My laptop is on a K'Nex stand that props it up flat off my wooden desk by about 1.5". I'll redo the numbers later without the stand. -

Thanks Midnightsun! Those numbers are very similar to my undervolted T9600 when on a cool desk.
Could you also please report the VID (Voltage) in Core Temp at Max Performance and Max Battery life?
I am wondering how much a P8700 like yours or a P9500 can generally be undervolted by. Any experience?
Last favor to ask you:
If possible, could you run Orthos or another stress test app and run your CPU at 100% load for 5 minutes at Max performance and Intel Graphics - and let me know the temp?
CPU temps - Anyone with a T500 with T9400/T9550/T9600 CPU and ATI Radeon Graphics?
