I have read the max temp it can handle is up to 90C... my temps haven't even hit 60C so im not concerned about that what im wondering is why are the cpu cores such different temps. using hard ware monitor and openhardware monitor to check temps. the cores tend to be about 25F different.. core 2 is running much hotter than core 1. what would cause this. i have never noticed anything like this on any of my d top builds.

    cores atm are core:1: 41C (105) core:2: 53 (127F)

Have you checked the core loads in relation to the temperatures? If one isnt doing as much work as the other AND OR if it is a cpu that supports turbo boost (i5 or i7 dual version) and one core is shut down while the other is loaded then you will experience a difference or in the second case an extreme difference.

If both cores are loaded about equal then thermal paste application and or the heatsink's mounting can be suspect. On chips this small its kinda hard for it to be that bad though.

its a pentium p6200. pretty sure it doesn't have turbo boost hehe. ill try to monitor the cpu usage to the temps and see what it looks like. im not really to concerned about this as the temps are still good hasn't hit 60c yet and there is still another 30c to spare haha... just wanted to know what would cause this it seems weird.

I watched the temps with nothing open on the computer but the monitor it seems that core 2 is being used more than core 1. it was about 0% to 3% core one and on avg 1.5% to 4.5% on core 2 does that really make such a huge difference.
As you can see the temps are VERY different. Would this little amount of proccessing difference and possible a slight difference in thermal paste really make up for this big off a difference ?
I'm a desktop guy, and i haven't seen anything at all like this.
