Hi folks,
I have a 2-month old T61 with Vista Ultimate, T7500, 2GB RAM, NVIDIA 140M, and 100GB 7200rpm hard drive. The power management profile is set on "adaptive" max cpu speed, and windows' task manager indicates that the CPU usage is around 50% (51 to 58, I'd say), even when the computer is completely idle. I did a clean install of ultimate when I got the computer, and I have exactly 60 processes running; i.e. nothing out of the ordinary.
I don't know if the task manager is reliable in terms of cpu usage (I searched threads and saw that some people have questions about that), but I think there is something weird here.
The thing that made me go check that is that the computer is running quite hot, at least measured by putting my hand in front of the out vent on the side. (SpeedFan says C2D temperature around 50C when idle)
Do you have any idea what could be going on? Is it bad at all or should I just enjoy my TP anyway (I'm enjoying it pretty well apart from this question) I don't post the exact list of processes or other detailed info, I'm kinda hoping that a quick solution exists, although I searched this forum and google and didn't come up with anything.
A million thanks in advance for any help.
EDIT: I just found out that it's due to the Thinkvantage Scheduler process, and there is tons of info on this. Don't mind my questions!
CPU running at 50% constantly...
