So, maybe I'm being overly paranoid, and maybe what I'm experiencing is perfectly normal, but seeing as this is my first laptop, I'm not knowledgeable as to what's normal and what isn't.

    Lenovo IdeaPad Y570
    CPU: Core i7 2670QM 2.2 GHz to 3.1 GHz (Turbo Boost 2.0)
    GPU: nVidia GT555M 1 GB GDDR5
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    RAM: 8 GB DDR3 SDRAM

So, I'm worried about the temperatures I see when the CPU is under load from gaming or using other intensive programs (3DS Max, Photoshop, etc).

I often see temps reaching as high as 81/82 Celsius, making me panic thinking something is horribly wrong. Are these temps normal or should something be done?

The laptop cooler I have is Cooler Master NotePal X2, but I know if I didn't have it, it would get hotter.

Wouldn't really worry about it unless you're getting thermal throttling/shutdowns. Low 80s is high, but really not dangerous. Considering that you have a 45w quad, I'm not surprised that your load temps are where they are.

Well, I knew it was high, but wasn't sure how dangerous it was/wasn't, so that's good to hear. Would the 90's 100's be the TJMax for the CPU, and is there anything I can do to ensure I don't reach the threshold? Thanks!
