I purchased a Thinkpad through the CPP and I live in California.

I believe that I read that the accidental warranty service is not available in California to consumers, does that not apply to those who purchase through the CPP program?

If I am not covered I guess I should be downgrading from my 3-year accidental coverage to depot warranty only.

Off topic: I have a T400 with an AT&T WWAN card, can I tear off the plastic tab where the sim card is located, or is that needed for something?

You can still get onsite warranty, but yes I believe accidental coverage is usually not available in california.

You may wish to look at the warranty guide. A rider on your homeowners or renters insurance may be worth a look if you can't get accidental. It's generally cheaper than accidental coverage and will cover things like theft, which an accidental policy will not.

Since they let me purchase the Accidental damage warranty and I live in CA I figured the CPP may have changed the scenario just enough to let me slide by.

They shouldn't let you buy that if you live in CA then.

You should probably confirm with lenovo about the policy's eligibility. You'd obviously be entitled to a refund for the upgrade difference if you cannot get the coverage.

Yeah, since I'll have to call to cancel the policy anyway, then I may as well just ask the rep on the phone to be 100% sure and if the Accidental plan somehow works for me try to elicit an email confirmation from them. Thanks all.

Anybody know about that plastic tab next to the WWAN sim card?
