RE: COA LABELS ON REFURBISHED THINKPADS:
(1) Is there available anywhere, a listing of scam sellers who advertise laptops with counterfeit COA labels? I understand Microsoft filed a lawsuit - maybe they offer such a listing?
(2) IS THIS LEGAL ON THE PART OF IBM: even if the COA is valid, I understand that IBM doesn't provide Win2000 installation disks for older refurbished models; furthermore, vendors claim that it's illegal for them to make a copy of Win2000 to include with the refurbished thinkpad.
ISN'T IT ILLEGAL FOR IBM TO BAR VENDORS FROM PROVIDING WIN2000 INSTALLATION DISKS TO VALID COA OWNERS - SINCE AFTER ALL THE COA IS VALID DESPITE WIN2000 BEING OUTDATED??
(3) RE: REPUTATION
Also, is there an alpha-order listing of reputable Ebay laptop power sellers?

If it seems too good to be true it probably is.
It may be illegal to include a burned copy of window 2k, but you are perfectly legal to install a copy of 2k if you a valid COA you my opinion of course though may want to consult a laywer.
No idea. -
What do you mean by "too good to be true"?
Also, it seems to me that the vendors should be taking legal action - not little ole me...
P.S. If someone has a valid Win2000 COA, would IBM agree at least to mail them the WinXP install disks (since they're not forthcoming enough to make the former available despite valid COAs? Also, is there some clause attached to COAs stating that after XX date, recovery disks will be discontinued? lewdvig, if you're reading this, perhaps you can respond to these points in your thread "How to buy a notebook"? Thanks!
COA questions, legality questions etc.
