Thanks for the heads up -- and yay to more battery recalls. I felt a little left out, but now I'm included as I own a ThinkPad.

It was expected. The battery issue has been a supply issue the entire time, not the laptop makers problem. Depending on the batch, many makers would ahve gotten these from Sony, and noone is safe.

I am just glad my Lenovo came with the Sanyo pack :)

I was contemplating on buying a 6 cell for my t60p, but since you won't know whether or not its a sony or sanyo until you get it, its too much of a gamble right now. is there any way to tell just from the web site the serial number of the battery so you can find out before hand if its on the recall list?

Buying one now should be safe no matter what brand you get.

Not neccesarily. If you buy a battery now, it will not have the same problem we're having now, however, no one can guarantee it will be problem free.

But I think that's what you meant anyway.
