    Hi,
    I have a Lenovo Z61t with a CD Burner M a t s h i t a UJDA775 (Windows XP Pro).

I am trying to burn a CD (not a DVD). A few burning programs that I tried do not recognize the burner.

From the messages it appears that the programs do not recognize it as a CD burner, only as a reader. The specs for this part say it’s a CD writer x24.

Attached a screenshot of the info screen from one of the programs, it shows no checks for any of the write features.

There is no driver update on the Lenovo website, as far as I know drivers for this part are built into windows.

    Any help appreciated.

I use "m a t s h i t a" instead of just writing it as one word because a word filter on this forum removes the middle part of the word, so it becomes "mata".

Did you try firing up System Toolbox?

System Toolbox looks like a very useful app. When I tried to install it, it asked to install .NET framework, which I don't want to do.
