Hi guys
I'm looking to but a T43 for use mainly in the UK. I have a few question I hope you guys can answer for me.
I am looking to but a Thinkpad T43 /2686M5U from Euclid Computers, are they reliable? Living in the UK, I don't know anything about them. The reason why I may buy from them is because they ship to the UK.
I've been told the US have been allocated 13 channel for WiFi, the UK uses 11. Am I likely to have problems with the WiFi not working?
I know the keyboard will be in US standard, is it possible to change the keyboard to a UK one? Can it be lifted out, and a new one put in?
If the keyboard cannot be changed, apart from the layout of the keyboard, what are the major differences between the two, specifically, missing keys. I do know the US keyboard will not have the £ and keys. That shouldn't be a problem as I can get the symbol by pressing Ctrl + Alt together. I'm sure something similar is available for the £ symbol.
Power supply and warrenty is not an issue either, as I can get a adaptor for the plug, and the warrenty is international.
Any other things I should be aware of? I am prepared to pay for shipping cost of around $100, plus Tax when it reaches the UK.
The main reason why I'm looking to buy from the US is because of the price difference between the US and UK.
The T43 listed retail for $1825, plus $100 shipping. If I tax to the T43, the final cost will be $2260.
I have been quoted a price of £2200 inc tax for a similar model in the UK, converted to $, this works out to be around $3600!!!!!!

The power lead would be different. I had a ton laying about from old printers so I just replaced it.
Everything is the same except the keyboard having swapped " and @ signs.
You can change WiFi channel anyhow, but I haven't experienced any problems.
Sorry, don't know about that shop. -
They have good resellerratings, but like most internet retailers returns can be problematic.
