So I've decided on purchased the X230 with the following specs:

Intel Core i5-3320M Processor (3M Cache, up to 3.30 GHz)
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit)
12.5" Premium HD (1366x768) LED Backlit Display, Mobile Broadband Ready, 2x2 Antenna
Intel HD 4000 Graphics in Intel Core i5-3320M Processor
    4 GB PC3-12800 DDR3 (1 DIMM)
    UltraNav™ with TrackPoint® and buttonless multi-touchpad
    500GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm
    720p Camera
    6 Cell ThinkPad Battery X44+
    Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 AGN
    Mobile Broadband upgradable
    1 Year Depot/Express Warranty

which comes to $933 Canadian (before tax) using IBM Friends EPP and CAXJUNESAVINGS2012 discount code. Do you guys believe this is a good price, or do you think the price will drop after a month or two. I do not mind waiting, as I am not in a complete rush to buy this.

Also I was planning on getting an mSATA SSD, which do you guys reccomend, so far looking at Canadian websites, I've seen the Intel 310 series and the Kingston SSDNOW

seriously doubt the price will drop. there were some good deals to get the new laptops selling the first day or so, then they edged up to current pricing.

Following the pattern of the x220, beyond a coupon deal, the prices stayed pretty consistant over the year I bought 3 of them.

I would be much more concerned with buying it now instead of waiting a couple of months to see what quality issues and quirks pop up on the forums and computer review sites. Any offset in price at that point is well worth the investment. I am interested in either the Lenovo x230 or the Asus UX32VD-DB71 because of the IPS display among other features, but both are brand new, and until there is a history I wouldn't touch either one with a ten foot pole; it is the equivalent of buying a first year design change of an automobile. Previous series of both notebooks just had way too many problems for my taste.

It could be cheaper at some point, but not by much. If you want to wait for a couple of months, while following the coupon codes etc, you possibly can get it, maybe, $50 cheaper. It certainly won't be $700, not with premium screen and i5 and 6 cell.

newegg.ca sells OCZ Nocti too. Although I would go for a single SSD instead of HDD+mSATA combo: lower power consumption, no moving parts and does not vibrate & make noises. 256GB SSDs are comparable in price to 120GB mSATA and are usually faster, and 512GB m4 is sub-$400.

As a side note. Does anyone think based off of Lenovo's history that there would be an upgrade in screen resolution say possibly when the x1 carbon comes out?

Everything is possible. But, if anything, X1C is more likely to bring a decent 1600x900 panel to T430 series.

There is no shortage of small laptops with more pixels than 1366x768 from various vendors, but apparently it hasn't bothered Lenovo too much so far. If I had to bet, I'd bet on new 12" panels coming not sooner than the next generation.

Thanks for the reply guys, I think I may just wait and see how the X1C is when it gets released, which will give me more time to see more opinions on the X230 and maybe there will be an opportunity to save a bit of money in the future, which I can contribute to an SSD or a 3 year warranty option.
