Lenovo did a poor job partitioning my hard drive so I am looking to do a clean install. Before I wipe the recovery partition I would like to burn the cd/dvd revcovery set just to be on the safe side. Unfortunately, I cannot for the life of me figure out the options that let me burn these discs. Of course I realize that i need to go into the recovery partition, but from there I am not seeing an option. I have a 15.4" T61p.

    Thanks for any help.

You do not need to go into the recovery partition. Open the ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery application. This program will let you create 1 (only 1) set of recovery discs. You will need 1 CD-ROM or 1 DVD for the startup disc and 2 DVDs for the bulk of the backup.

Jabba - or others - Is it "OK" to use DVDs rather then CD Rom for the first start up disc? I am pretty sure you can boot using DVD discs right?? Thanks

If you are using Windows XP, you can reallocate your disk partitions with Partition Magic 8.05.

If you are using Windows Vista, the OS allow you shrink certern amount of disk space form SW_Preload(C :). For my machine, it comes with 160GB disk and shrink 43GB from C: and about 6GB for recovery partition. If you want more space, try something similar with Partition Magic 8.05.

Yes, a DVD for the start disc is fine.

So I wonder if I did something wrong. I made a set of recovery discs. But I'm seeing people are reporting 3 DVD discs are needed. I have a T61p and have one startup DVD and one other DVD for the rest.
