So I bought a lenovo t60p but there have been some issues with the laptop in terms of its build. Whenever I press hard on the palm rest, i can feel it flex and give. In fact, if i press anywhere around the keyboard, the black cover flexes. It feels as though there's only a flimsy piece of plastic cover between my hands and the hardware, as though if i press too hard, it will give. One of my friends' dell xps has a firmer palm rest, contrary to my expectation that ibm's build was stronger.
Also, whenever i place the laptop on a flat surface, it does not sit evenly. The little plastic grippers on the bottom of the laptop do not seem to be aligned height-wise. I can see that one of the small grippers does not touch the table, and if i press that end of the lapton down, it tilts a bit.
It just doesnt match up to all the positive reviews about ibm's build. I have an old thinkpad t21, and on the outside, in build, it is a much stronger, much firmer, zero flex laptop.
Has anyone else had this problem with t60 or other recent thinkpads?
thanks

I think your thinkpad is warped, the palm rest as you have said is not that strong that is true but I think unless you punch it it won't give. I've actually taken my palm rest off to install memory and it is a very thin piece of plastic but strong though and yes a "little" flexible otherwise it would crack from pressure. On my laptop it is pretty firm. Try taking it off and putting it back on it is also possible the screws may not be on tight or not at all.

The only problem I had with my laptop was I was getting BSOD's which turned out to be a faulty video card / mobo which got replaced. It happens Bro every machine has its flaw.

Try tightening the screw under the laptop. It will press the cover against the rollcage and add substantial rigidity. Mine was also like that (in Z series), have some flex in keyboard and palm rest. After tightening its gone.
