    Hello there.

First of all I don't own an X230. I was planning to order one but decided not to because I read many issues regarding the build quality. I've seen people have complaints some parts are loose, wiggle, stuck instead of the known rock-solid build quality of Thinkpads. I never had any Thinkpads before, so I don't actually know how the build quality is. But from reading past reviews of many earlier Thinkpads, I get an image of Thinkpads as a well-built laptops.

Regarding the build issues, is it just some kind of quality control problem? Would it usually have improvements over time? I don't live in US (lots of discounts), to order one I need to send it to my relatives, and then have them send it to me before I can finally touch it. I can't risk of buying a defect product, it would be too complicated for me to replace it back.

You have to understand, Lenovo sells tons of these. There's been a few posts from time to time from people who've had an issue, but I think it's relatively small when compared to the number of notebooks they sell. I don't think it's a big issue. There are risk free things in life. No one here has a crystal ball that could tell you whether it's going have a problem down the road. A couple of options might be to get the accidental coverage. Lenovo would fix it regardless of how it's damaged. You could buy your notebook at Costco, which has a 90 day no questions asked return policy, though it will probably cost more and cut down your selection.

Well, mine is rock solid. I dropped it yesterday from about ~2 meters (on the stairs). I was in shock, because it was a new laptop. 1 min later i came to my senses and picked it up, nothing. Still worked. They are quite strong :).
