I bought an extra 8-cell battery for my X61 and it has enabled to leave my charger at home or at my office on most days. But to my horror, my cat must have pushed my battery from the table onto the floor, breaking the little hook that helps keep the battery locked in place. :(

While the battery is still usable, but its very loose...Is there anyway to repair the battery?

I doubt you can repair it on your own, and would strongly recommend that you get it replaced as loose connection will not do your machine any good.
