Got one. $580 after discounts and FatCash. Larger Res screen hopefully will be better for photo editing and all, along with the X3100 performance 3x that of the GMA950 and the extra 50% of battery life. I'm diggin this. Didn't spend the $50 for the DVD burner since the year ive had my toshiba, ive never actually burnt a CD much less a DVD, and figured the 120GB would at least increase resale value a bit

    Current laptop :(Toshiba M115)
    Intel Core Duo T2050 (1.6GHz
    1GB DDR2
    80GB 5400RPM
    14.1" WXGA (1280x800)
    DVD+RW
    Intel GMA950
    6 Cell Battery (~3 hr battery )

    New one (R61)
    Intel Core 2 Duo T5470 (1.6GHz)
    1GB DDR2
    120GB 5400RPM
    14.1" WXGA+ (1440x900)
    DVD/CD-RW
    Intel GMA X3100
    6 Cell (supposed 4.5hr Battery)

Will be using XP Pro and hopefully it will allow me to play CS:S :)

How are the Thinkpad R screens compared to the T screens? Better? Same?

They're more comparable than the last generation R60 and T60.

The R series is slightly heavier and thicker and the T61P has a workstation Nvidia Quadro video card. Everything else is pretty much the same.

Just thought I'd point out it's "an R61" since R phoeneticaly starts with a vowel. That is all.

Oh yeah and grats on getting a laptop a LOT sooner than any of us noobs that ordered a T61p. x(

Does the coupon in that thread still work? (USPTR61721) I tried to order and I got "Coupon not valid for this shopping cart."

Well, I guess don't need to be ordering yet another machine anyway. Congrats to all those who manage to get in on this deal! :D

You spelled "phonetically" wrong. So much for correcting others. That is all.
