Got one. $580 after discounts and FatCash. Larger Res screen hopefully will be better for photo editing and all, along with the X3100 performance 3x that of the GMA950 and the extra 50% of battery life. I'm diggin this. Didn't spend the $50 for the DVD burner since the year ive had my toshiba, ive never actually burnt a CD much less a DVD, and figured the 120GB would at least increase resale value a bit

im thinking about ordering this too. exept with quadro 140m and vista premium. it looks like a good deal.
i dont know what expansion slots to get tho
and what resolution to go for -
I wanted the higer res since I do photo editing and all
-
does it make everything smaller? im asking because i was originally looking at 15.4's and i dont want to go smaller still. i seriously dont know ive never had a laptop.
ive been reading about this deal on SD and FW for hours seems pretty hot. -
yes, everything is smaller, but you have more workspace to work with
-
ok thanks. will prolly stay with wxga then.
wxga is still hi def isnt it? coz it has more that 720 lines vertical? or is that just for tv's? -
1280x800 vs the wxga+ which has 1440x900
-
im pretty sure this wxga is not 1200 x 800

How are the Thinkpad R screens compared to the T screens? Better? Same?
-
The R series is slightly heavier and thicker and the T61P has a workstation Nvidia Quadro video card. Everything else is pretty much the same. -
Same .

How does this config look. Hot or not.

Just thought I'd point out it's "an R61" since R phoeneticaly starts with a vowel. That is all.
Oh yeah and grats on getting a laptop a LOT sooner than any of us noobs that ordered a T61p. x( -
Well, I guess don't need to be ordering yet another machine anyway. Congrats to all those who manage to get in on this deal! -
In for one. Hopefully it'll get here before I move to the other coast.
