    Hello,

I've posted a while ago regarding my upcoming new X230T system. I wanted to add a Crucial 256GB mSATA SSD drive to become the boot drive and use the supplied 500GB HD as storage. Well, the installation of the mSATA SSD went smooth, I cloned the supplied Win7 Pro partition to the mSATA, and when I was sure all was working fine with Win7, I made a dual boot install with a clean Win8 Pro. Since then, I'm only using Win8 and it works like a charm. I really like my new X230T and it works great with Win8.

However, I did the tests with the Lenovo Solution Center tool and the mSATA SSD passed all tests, save for the "Test de lecture ciblée" which I guess would translate in English by "Targeted Read Test". The code from the report is WHD01V002-WISVED. The report also mentions that the "SMART autotest" is not available.
This mSATA SSD looks to be working fine, the firmware is the latest available (04MH).
Should I worry about this "failure" or let it go? I don't think I can contact Lenovo support with this, as it's an addon I did myself, which is not supported by the 3-year Lenovo warranty. Maybe I should contact Crucial?

    Thanks for any input.

You could try an alternative disk tool like CrystalDiskInfo and see what it reports back in regards to the SMART data.

I downloaded and installed CrystalDiskInfo 5 and it says the mSATA Crucial 256 GB is 100% healthy (as is also the 500 GB HD)...

You know what is weird: If I test only the mSATA SSD, it passes all the tests (including the Targeted Read Test). But if I test both drives in the same test (the 500 GB HD and the mSATA, as I did before posting), then the Targeted Read Test fails for the mSATA SSD. Why is that?

As I mentioned in my previous post, I installed the CrystalDiskInfo tool, which says that the mSATA SSD is 100% healthy. I also ran the Check Disk Windows 8 utility, which found no errors.

My guess is that the mSATA SSD is just working fine and that there is a problem with LSC and Windows 8 while testing 2 drives at once.

    What do you think?
