So, I got my brand new Y580, and the short story is that the Lenovo EE Boot Optimizer screwed up my computer, so I had to use a Ubuntu boot disc and delete fbfmon.sys. Anyways, now that I've done that, I have two new problems, one that is major, and one that seems minor, but still worried me. So, I got and broke this computer on Monday, got it "working" again on Wednesday, and now whenever I close the lid it wont wake up when I open it again. Also, there is a little pause in the windows loading screen right as the balls of light show up, and it worries me because before I "fixed" the computer, it would freeze right there and then BSOD. Also, that didn't happen before the computer broke. So, anyways, I have been trying to do a factory reset, but I cannot figure out how to do it. I've gone into the advanced repair option screen, but nothing shows up about restoring to factory settings. So, what do I do?

i have that same short pause on bootup too. no big deal.

turn off the pc, press the small button next to the power button. no worky?

In your case, I would just wipe the whole partition (keep the recovery partition though), and clean install windows 7 ultimate.
then install the drivers from the D drive.

Of course, being me, I assumed that it would come with the install discs, so I don't have a copy of Windows 7 that is not brand specific anywhere. I have tried pressing that button, but I haven't seen anything happen when I do press it, but I will try again, thanks.

Edit: Ok, success, but I still have the problem with it not waking up from sleep after I've closed the lid. Is there anything that can be done about this?

    Bump/Update

Ok, so the big problem is that whenever I try to wake it up from sleep or hibernate, I hear the computer start and the lights change to suggest that it is running, but the screen stays black. This is after 3 factory resets, as well as updating every single driver (the problem existed before those too) Please help

I'm guessing it's a defective screen. This happened with my old Y480 too. I ended up RMAing it for a Y580. So far no issues with it.

But then again on my Y480, it would be black after coming from a sleep or when I just boot it up. Does this happen on yours only when it sleeps or hibernates? Or does it occur when you start up as well.
