Surprised to see the new design:

My friend have an new ideapad and it's AC adapter is almost exactly the same as this one, except for the connector. It's a little longer than the "old" AC adapter, weighs the same (280g), and gone are the 4 small plastic dimples at the bottom.

Seems to be manufactured by Chicony Power International (Judging by the bottom label). And I thought that Chicony were only manufacturing Thinkpad keyboards.

this new power adapter was released since the T430, X230, T530, etc.

Chicony manufactures many things. Power adapter is no longer high tech, it is a high volume low margin business, which suits the Chicony just fine.

Ideapad adapters have always been rectangular in shape, just a change in shape of the design..
