Ordered a customized T61 on Friday May 30.

Ready for shipping on the next working day (6/2)
Picked up at Lenovo Hong Kong 6/3 early morning.
Arrived at Korea that same afternoon.
Arrived at Alaska that night.
Import process done in Louisville, KY 6/4 early morning
Shipped to Miami right away and arrived 6/4 at 6AM.
Out for delivery right now!

I hope it arrives in good working conditions. Fingers crossed.

That´s order processing, assembly, shipping halfway across the world, plus two import processes in 3 working days. WOW!!!

FYI, the payment was done via Paypal, which probably avoided human order verification, saving 1-2 days.

 

Ordered my x61s on May 24. Still waiting for it to be shipped.

 

Threads like this make me wanna smack USPS . It took them 10 days to fly my package out of the US.

 

Mine said 2-3 weeks shipping when I bought it, but it was ready in a day.

 

They cannibalized my laptop to build yours. Congrats.

 

I wonder why some people get lucky like this and others (me) end up with a three week build time....

 

This reminds me of last summer when I ordered the np2090's from Sager (same as the Compal IFL90's). They told us 2 weeks waiting or something around that. Ended up waiting months for them to finally ship! But I'm in the waiting pool for a T61p as well with you now.

 

My shipping information was received on the 29th and it arrived in Houston this evening, but obviously they can't deliver at 7PM. Tomorrow I'll have my ThinkPad!

 

Is that with two-day shipping?

 

ordered my customized r61 may 28 (wednesday), ready to ship by sunday, laptop received tuesday (june 3), ups ground express from hong kong to california, free shipping. i was like WOW ..never thought im gonna get this laptop in 6 days.

That is insane. I ordered my T61 the same day as you and nothing has happened at all. Estimated ship date is 6/18, which is also what the phone people are telling me. I don't think there is anything odd about my configuration.

I am almost tempted to go to my nice, convenient, local Apple store and grab a Macbook Pro, as I really need this machine for a project I am working on. I understand that it takes time to custom build a system but three weeks is a little ridiculous.

 

sorry to hear that ethant, reading from other message boards, i hear it takes at least 2 weeks or longer before the ship date so when i got mine i was really surprised, maybe my r61 is one of those laptops that the order was cancelled by a different buyer before it was shipped. t61's are hot right now, there was a deal sometime ago for t61's going around $700 (even less) and some of them haven't even received their's yet. i was gonna bite on that deal but got hesitant...too bad for me...but i'm happy with my r61...couldn't complain.

 

I'm in the same boat with my r61. Ordered 26th, no movement. Nothing fancy on it either.

 

Same here. Ordered R61 on June 1st. Still in process. We'll see.

 

I placed my order June 2nd, it was shipped out yesterday and is on its way here already. I was one of the lucky ones and got it shipped with only the dos license, maybe that is why it is on its way so quickly

 

Really strange. I tried to ask the phone support if there was a part in my configuration that was holding up my system since it seems others are shipping out very quickly, but they were clueless. Here is my config:

Your recordable DVD drive is delaying your order.

 

Seriously? I wouldn't have through DVD-Rs would've been a hot commodity.

 

I would think they are pretty standard too...

I wonder if I could call and have them just but the CD-R drive in, or if it would do more harm then good to mess with the order at this point.

 

Or ship it without an optical drive and just drop it in the mail when they get a few

 

I would just leave well enough alone. I wouldn't go asking them to mess with your order in any way otherwise I think you risk your order being totally screwed up and even more delayed. Personally i don't think their whole feedback mechanism is that good, meaning that their communication between CS and the build house is poor. If you are in the US you should be getting your machine pretty soon, just be patient. Heck, mine came pretty fast and it has the 9 cell battery(short supply currently).

 

i hope i get a little lucky with shipping. i'd love to see my laptop shipping before the 27th

 

Well its pretty funny actually. My machine arrived today! So far everything is looking good. I will post more details in the "shipping" thread, but according to Lenovo's site the order is still in progress with a ship date of 6/18.

Their website is very slow to update. I have ordered 2 machines over the last few months and the only states that I have had are "In Progress" and "Shipped". Weird that you didn't get a shipped email though, I got one with mine. My first machine came to me in 5 days and my most current one in about 10(w/ 9cell delay). Been pretty impressed with their shipping times to me atleast. Enjoy and keep us up to date on how you like the machine.

 

WTF? I just ordered a customized X61s and it's not going to SHIP until at least 25 days after my order. Damn you.

 

well i just ordered a r61 yesterday so I'm hoping it ships quickly... Sadly my cell [hone just died (w810i) and AT&T has absolutly no good phones anymore....

 

wut if they ship while your not at home?

My family will be out on vacation for a week, and if i order now there is a slight chance that it'll come while we are not at home.

Is there a way to tell lenovo to hold it at the post office or somethig? or do i have to tell the post office to do that?

 

the ship via ups and its signature required...you may wanna try and give ups a call for your options, imo

 

My T61 took less than a week to arrive at my door O_O

 

i orderd a t61p on 6/6 and it said the estimated shipping date was 6/27. however, it shipped last night and is currently departing from Korea and heading somewhere else, hopefully closer to me XD

 

DOS has always been faster than Windows

 

Mine arrived in about the same time-frame.

I ordered it during the Memorial day weekend. The lenovo website said it wouldnt even be assembled till June 16th!

My t61p showed up five days after I ordered it. Needless to say, I was quite pleased. So far, I am loving this laptop. Now I just have to find the best video driver for it (I want a stable, yet super-faster driver) , but that's for a different discussion.

 

You guys are lucky. Ordered mine on May 30, it shipped yesterday from China and will take 5 business days to get to the depot here in Canada. Only then they will ship it over to me through UPS... It doesn't even have a tracking number as of yet, I'll have to call again next Monday to get the tracking number, after it's been sent my way.

 

Yes, Canada has always been a different story when it comes to Lenovo. Don't know why.
