The drive isn't particularly hard to upgrade, but the part that sucks is the X4x use a 1.8" PATA drive with the connector on the side of the drive. You cannot use a conventional drive. I think they were only made by Hitachi and the largest size was 60GB. Plus, they're slow, expensive and noisy. There are some SSDs available for it on eBay, but they're not cheap either. I guess if it were me, I'd stick to XP.

Yea I thought I`d just stick with XP I guess. But no its not worth for a SSD drive lol. Why DId they put slow hard drives in these? I`d love a SSD for my XPS lol

No you need 1.8" PATA that is 1.8" SATA.

You could buy a 1.8" PATA to ZIF adapter and buy a ZIF SSD.

Welcome to the 4200 rpm club!
It gives you plenty of time to ponder life's mysteries while you wait for it to finish going into hibernation.

Also, the x41 keyboard gives you the unique pleasure of watching MacBook users become utterly flummoxed and befuddled by its lack of trackpad. Money can't buy you that kind of entertainment.

I have found that Vista with tablet extensions seems MUCH faster than XP on the tablet. Running XP with no pen extensions is OK, but ... why?

I'm going to try Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit on mine tomorrow. We'll see how it goes.

My goal is to put a SATA SSD in it eventually:
