    Hello dear friends.
I just purchesed the Lenovo N100.
    It is for studant-use.
Can I get some advices on how to boost the performance?
I am willing to sacrefy every visialasition gimik or ANYTHING that slows down my laptop (I am an idiot, I know).
    I have done the following:
    1. In "My Computer" - "Properties" - "Advanced" - "Performance":
I marked "set to best performance".
    2. In "Start" - "run" - "Msconfig" :
Romoved what I think (i am no expert - far from it - just following advices) is unnaccery.
Anything else you guys can help me with ?
Thanks a lot, glad I could join you guys. :)

read first before following... just a warning :p

my personal advice to you my friend:

    1. go to my computer - control panel - add/remove programs
    2. uninstall those pre-installed antivirus, you don't want that
    3. uninstall google desktop (i don't use it because i know where my files are, separate folders for each type or importance)
    4. my computer - properties - advance - performance - best performance (that's good you did this)
    4. restart :) it's like a refresh thingy
    5. after restart. defragment your harddrive. since your a lenovo user, maybe its diskeeper lite.
    6. restart again.
    7. download free antivirus, mine's avast!
    8. once in a while, like after you have remembered you just added some gigabytes of files in your harddrive, defrag your harddrive. i always defrag everyday.
    9. install programs you are going to use, not those programs that just fill your harddrive

i just don't get the idea of having a clean install. it's like the harddrive's got mind of its own. the first time i defragmented my drive, i saw system files in the middle of the harddrive (i think it is green in disk keeper lite) and not in the start. i just have this stupid guess of the closer the files on the beginning of the disk, the faster you can access it. then one time, i erased maybe 15GB of music and 'videos', and it left a large gap in the harddrive. it made my laptop slow down a little. then i recovered just by defraging the HDD.

don't follow me on this one. just my tips :)
