I have decided to give vista a second chance, so I foirmated the HDD (deleted the hidden partition) and did a clean install. I have also installed the System Update and the drivers found in the Lenovo site. However the Bluetooth (which was present before the format) has disappeared from the device manager. Furthermore the green light on the left of the wireless switch does not go on, however the wireless (Intel 965) function perfectly. Any ideas on what might have happened ? Thanks.

    P.S. I forgot, this is all about a T61

OK bluetooth problem resolved (fn+F5) to activate it after installing the hotkey driver. However the green light next to the wireless switch still doesn't come on.

Make sure you install both power management softwares on the lenovo site. I had the same problem with XP, but installing the power management softwares solved it all.

You need the following to make bluetooth work:
    • Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software for Windows ____ - ThinkPad
    • Hotkey driver for Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit, XP, 2000 - Notebooks
    • Keyboard Customizer Utility for Windows ____ - ThinkPad
    • ThinkPad Power Management driver for Windows Vista, XP, 2000, Me, 98 SE - ThinkPad
    • Power Manager for Windows Vista - ThinkPad

Then you can press the FN+F5 combination to bring up the on/off toggle for bluetooth.

I cannot say you deserve it, but I simply dont see the real benefits or big reasons for so many people reinstalling everything. If you are a pro or experienced, do it; otherwise, uninstall things you dont want. I have seen so many people reporting problems related to reinstall.

Actually it is my habit to reinstall everything on the first use and up till now (I must have done 2 dozens of different PCs up till now) nothing has been so user unfriendly as Lenovo's driver packages. What is the logic behind installing Hotkeys and Keyboard customization in order to be able to actiavte the bluetooth hardware ? Why don't driver packages have an autoinstall feature and ehy only decompress themsleves ? Preinstall Vista was unbearbly slow and I am not a big fan of uninstalling, now things have improved ALOT. As for the light next to the switch I have installed each and every package from the Lenovo site but it does come on (not that I care since everything works as it should).

I know exactly what he is talking about. I did a clean install with Vista Ultimate and now when I turn on my WiFi...the green light indicator does not show on my t61..(right below the LCD panel where the other green lights are)

did you guys figure out a fix for this? My BT light goes on when I turn it on..but not the wifi
