I am looking for a bluetooth mouse to go with my laptop. I thought it would be nice to have a bluetooth mouse sinnce you can just pull it out of the back and use it. No need to fumble around with cables or USB dongles. I can't seem to find a new model. All I can find is one MS and one Logitech BT mouse and they were both released back in 2004. The only one I see on the Lenovo website is the Mogo Wireless Bluetooth Mouse. It doesn't look very useable. It slips into the PC card slot.

Does anyone know of a good, recently released BT mouse? Preferably someone with first hand (pun intended) experience.

Also, while we are on the BT topic. Has anyone used the Interlink Expresscard Media Remote for Blue Tooth found on the Lenovo accessories website?

Any other BT gems I should know about?

BT mice are not really common and to top it off good ones are almost impossible to find.

Problem is that BT is a pain to get a mouse working on properly without lag and syncing issues and most manufacturers just forgot about it and went with proprietary systems with their own dongle (RF, etc.).

The BT mouse with the continually best reviews right now is the v270 by Logitech. It is fairly cheap and seems to work well with syncing, not much lag, etc.

Still not perfect, but one of the best out there that I have seen. I plan on picking one up shortly for my T61.

Might Mouse by Apple looked good, but now that it is out many say that the right click is a pain since you have to physically lift your left finger off the mouse surface to use it (because of the touch sensitive button). Seems like it could get very annoying for windows users.

On a related note, I really hate all of the mice on the market right now.

I was looking into getting a new mouse. I currently have a Logitech MX1000 and the drivers suck. The middle button is hard to press often resulting in a side scroll and press. I was looking at the Microsoft Wireless Mouse 8000 as a replacement.

Does anyone own the Microsoft Wireless Mouse 8000?

It's bluetooth, but no one seems to be able to get it to sync with an internal bluetooth card. It seems you have to use their bluetooth dongle. The other problem with the microsoft mouse is that it's side scroll has very poor tactile response. I was playing around with one in the store and I really couldn't tell whether I had made a successful sidescroll or not. It is also lacking buttons. it only has two side buttons and it's symmetric for righties and lefties which from what I can tell makes it comfortable for neither.

On top of that I like my buttons. I use all 12 buttons to their full extent on my MX1000. I use side scroll to switch between tabs in firefox. I use cruise up/cruise down to control system volume and back for back, forward for forward and "application switcher" button to close windows as alt-f4 and in firefox to close tabs as ctrl-w. So I do love my buttons. But the trend seems to be in LESS buttons rather than more buttons :( :( :(. It makes me unhappy that there aren't any mice on the market that I currently like?

Does anyone know of any good mice on the market that I don't know about?

There are only two mice I truly love...

    1) Microsoft USB Corded Optical Explorer. The old style one with the nice smooth wheel and no weird curves or anything. Its AMAZING how well this mouse works and yet it is so simple. I have had this one for years and it works like day 1 (minus the pads being worn down from TONS of use). Great for gaming as well...people under estimate simple mice and thus it got taken off the market :(

    2) Logitech G7. This is my current mouse and my favorite. I tried too many wireless mouse to count and hated them all cause you could feel the bit of lag in them (some people cant notice it (even some in my same household :p), but I really can notice it). The G7 feels just like a wired mouse with no lag at all. It is dead accurate and the hot swap battery packs work great and are super easy to change in a flash. Makes it so you never run out of juice.

I also love the wheel on it, not as smooth as the MS one, but still very nice and good to the touch. People who bash it because it is wireless have never truly used it, there is no difference between it and the G5 side by side and you really cannot tell a difference in speed, lag, or anything.

Now, that being said neither of those 2 are well suited to be a travel laptop mouse and thus I am at a loss of what to use with my T61 :(

I actually have the Microsoft Optical Desktop Elite for Bluetooth (Keyboard and Mouse) http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Opt...0?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1182398953&sr=8-1

Despite some negative reviews. I think it is superb. I have no lag whatsoever (unless you want to call the one second delay upon wake-up for battery saving purposes, lag). The only problem I've heard is that some people haven't been able to sync with their internal bluetooth. They are forced to use the Microsoft dongle. Well that defeats the purpose of having internal bluetooth! Microsoft calls it Bluetooth 2.0, but I didn't really think v2.0 was out in 2004 when I purchased this???

I guess I'll just have to find out if/when I get a T61. I was hoping maybe someone already tried.

I will be interested to know what you find. If it works well I may have to pick up one of those sets. I like the feel of MS keyboards and I have used that shape of MS mouse and its not bad.

Sadly I have heard what you said and I think I even saw someone that had a T60 saying that, but who knows, maybe it will work with the T61!

After three years of use, the only trouble I am starting to have is with the keyboard. I notice when typing that occasionally when I hit the spacebar I get a double space instead of single space. I also occasionally get a double letter here and there when I'm only hitting the key once. But hey, I've done ALOT of typing on this thing over the last three years. So if that's my only complaint...

Back to mouse lag. I'm messing around with it right now. If there is lag I just can't see it! I'm very picky about stuff like that. I haven't used many cordless mice, but I've seen lag on an old powerbook years ago with a USB 1.0 cordless mouse.

If I can get this thing to sync with the T61 I'd consider buying another set. Then I'd be able to replace this keyboard and have a mouse for the home PC and the T61. If not, I'll checkout the v270 by Logitech.

How do you like the intellimouse explorer that comes with your set stallen? I assume it's this mouse:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826105159R

I tried that one out in the store and the side scroll seemed not to have any tactile feel to it. Like I moved it from side to side and I'm like... did I side scroll yet?

I think we are posting at the same time.

    It's this one: http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Opti...2398953&sr=8-1

It's not the same as the one you posted on newegg. It's blue.
You can see it here in this Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer for Bluetooth 2.0 vs. Logitech review. It's an old review.

Do you have a laptop with internal bluetooth. Which one? Do you have to use the dongle?

I'm looking at the 8000 myself. Did you see my thread on mice? I'm going to order it from newegg soon and give it a go. Hopefully I'll like it better than my MX1000.

    Where is that thread?

Let me know (PM or something) how that 8000 works out. I think I'm gonna get one... well, if I ever get a laptop first ;)

I use a logitech v270, it works great, no syncing problems, no lag, works just like any other wireless mouse. right now it's connected to my work computer, a dell, with toshiba bluetooth stack, no dongle necessary. i am still waiting for my personal T61 and i have no experience using the mouse with a thinkpad. i don't which bluetooth stack comes with thinkpads.

i was going to buy the MS bluetooth mouse 8000, but i read somewhere that you need to have MS bluetooth stack installed on the computer otherwise you will need to use the included bluetooth dongle. i could be wrong on this, but i think the MS bluetooth stack is not very good in syncing with many bluetooth devices.

I have heard of problems with previous the MS BT mouse models, but I've read in more than one place that the MS BT 8000 syncs with the T60 with no problem. I have yet to hear about anyone trying it with a T61.

I am not an expert in bluetooth and its accessories by any means, but i think the connection problem comes with different bluetooth devices interacting with different bluetooth stacks, software to control BT devices) installed on the computer. Different bluetooth stacks (toshiba, vs MS, vs broadcom, etc) may not be able to connect to the same bluetooth device. it's not computer model dependent, but the installed bluetooth stack software dependent.

now it may be that the default bluetooth stack that comes with T60 will work the MS bluetooth mouse. i just got the logitech V270 because the reviews on the web seem to indicate that it has much easier time to connect to different bluetooth stacks than the MS BT 8000.

again, don't take what i wrote as absolute fact since i have basic experience with bluetooth.

If I stuck with the Wireless Mouse 8000 I would be tempted just to use the external dongle and save $30 by not getting bluetooth on my laptop. Then again I don't plan to take the mouse anywhere so it makes sense for me.

Stallen, I ordered the mouse yesterday so I'll let you know what I think when I get it. I wont be able to sync it with an integrated bluetooth device, but I'm sure it syncs with the T61's bluetooth without problems anyway.

I got the Logitech V270 BT mouse. It does synch with my X60 running Vista Business but the Logitech Setpoint software does not detect the mouse since it can only use the built-in BT stack. Logitech tells me that there's no work around for this. Consequently there is no My Mouse button in the Logitech Setpoint screen and no way to configure the mouse buttons - only the bare-bones mouse configuration available under Control Panel. Since I always configure my wheel button as a double-click, this mouse is a big disappointment for me.

I hate logitech's setpoint drivers too. I hate them on a daily basis.
