I just got my T61p and 3 times out of 5 when I restart I get the Blue Screen of Death. My specs are Vista 64 business, 4gb RAM, 2.6 C2D. Any thoughts?
-
What does the BSOD say? Obviously not all of it but does it list any files?
-
I didn't read it. But next time if it happens I guess I'll pay more attention. Could doing the update on the BIOS help?
-
You might have the most current one if its a T61P which was released 10-18-07.
Get that error message, especially the device or app that caused it. -
All blue screens I have had in vista on my t61p had to do with the turbo memory. Oddly, I even uninstalled the turbomemory app and driver and STILL have the occasional bluescreen referencing it.
-
I have the exact same setup as you do. Does the blue screen still happen to you as often?
-
I see you have the 4GB RAM setup that people have complained might be an issue with the Quadro Card. Here is the link to the BIOS update: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-67989
Release date of that was 13 days ago on 12/6. Very recent.
This is what it fixes:
Version 7LETA7WW (2.07-1.08)
(New) Added the new error code 1830 to indicate that a single DIMM is not installed in the memory slot 0. Solution for the error code: With a single DIMM, install the DIMM into the memory slot 0 (a slot different from having used it).
(Fix) Unexpected interrupts from the USB controller may occur.
(Fix) The system with NVIDIA graphics chip may cause hang.
Good luck all. -
I installed that update just the other day and im actually seeing a reduction in start time, maybe even 5-10 seconds. Also it seems a little peppier maybe its just my imagination but it seems a little faster.
-
It happens to me too, same system as above.
I think it shows the file to IOSyno.sys or something similiar. cant really remember...
Anyone ?? -
Very cool, I'll give that a shot. I saw 14" and didnt bother reading the rest - figured it wasnt for my setup.
I havent yet had a graphics hang (according to the bluescreen information) but hey...if it helps make things peppier and possibly fixes BSOD then I'm in! -
Hm, when I looked that was not there. Weird that its not there when looking specifically for a T61P. Anyway, use the utlilty instead of the bootable cd: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-67988 and DON'T update BIOS on the DOCK!
Arkit3kt, did you find it using the Matris? -
is IANVSTOR.sys .anyone know wat it is?
-
Turbo memory...
From http://downloadmirror.intel.com/13232/ENG/readme.txt
"3f. If the 'iaNvStor.sys' file is displayed, then driver installation was successful. Close Device Manager."
That is the stop error message I get occasionally...the wierd thing is I purposely did NOT install turbo memory to begin with. It is physically in my computer but has no driver associated with it. I even still show a yellow exclamation for an "unknown device" so I know it didnt mysteriously install itself. -
And flashing the BIOS with a Bootable CD is safer isn't it?
-
i think i am in trouble.
I am doing clean install for vista now, and everytime i install intel turbo memory and storage matrix driver, bsod appears !!!!!!
any help?? -
Are you following stallen's guide?
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=144783
Install your drivers in the order he specified. -
yes, i followed exactly wat he says...
-
I see the problem, you can't install them both yeap lol.
From stallen's guide:
• CLICK HERE Turbo Memory Driver (NOTE: Only install this driver on systems with Turbo Memory. This driver will also install the Matrix Storage Manger Driver.)
• CLICK HERE Matrix Storage Manager Driver (NOTE: Only install this driver on systems without Turbo Memory. Do not download/install this driver if you have installed the Turbo Memory driver.)
Install the Turbo Memory Driver and ignore the Matrix Storage Manager. -
lol, i know, i only installed the turbo memory one.
I see BSOD appears when it try to install ahcp ...
any idea? -
Did you switch BIOS back to AHCI?
-
oh,, how ??
-
Hit F1 when you see the ThinkPad Splash screen. Enter Bios. Hit F9 (I think, look at the bottom of the screen and see which F it is to return to default).
Then hit F10 to save and exit. It'll restart. -
Hi there, done that, and same thing.#
I restarted, reinstalled with no problem, and check intel flash cache logic chip driver details, and foundthere is another driver files known as nvccoin.dll .Is that normal? -
You're still getting Blue Screens?
Is it an unknown file? -
This will solve your problems. Go into power management by right clicking the battery icon. Go into advanced and go into hardware...then disable hybrid disc power saving option.
You should be set! no more bsod's!!
make sure you have the latest turbo mem driver and install it. it comes included with a matrix driver -
Thanks for the reply. I ended do a system recovery using the lenovo recovery disk, customised install tho... Really want to do a clean install but better not risk it and waste my time again, not too sure what is going on there...
Another question, is that possible to damage any hardware if i do a clean install too often?? or they (hardwares) can survive with no problems at all no matter how many time you format the system ??
Thanks in advance -
You can do a clean install as many times as you want. Some people, like me, even prefer to do it maybe twice a year depending on how much you install/uninstall programs and what not.
-
Right.. Just thought there is a limit for hard drive or something else to take before it starts to get into trouble..
Blue Screen?!?!
