I just built an R61 and the blu-ray option came up, I am including a screenshot that shows that the Blu-Ray drive is indeed included. You can build an R61 with blu-ray drive for 1141.00...Damn seems like a decent deal

there are numerous models on Lenovo's support site that show the Blu-Ray disk as a configurable option. For example:

    Product: ThinkPad R61 8918-5JP [change]

    Operating system: All [change]

    Original description: T7300(2GHz), 1GB RAM, 120GB 5400rpm HD, 15.4in 1280x800 LCD, 128MB nVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M, Blu-ray R, 802.11abg wireless, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, Camera, 6c Li-Ion, WinVista Business

I don't see much advantage of BD drive unless you have a 17" HD res screen to enjoy BD movies. But to each his own I guess.
