I just got my X40, it's sweet!, good for school etc. Got it for $1,400 - school bookstore discount.

Now, this is the first time i've ever had a laptop so I have no idea whats important/not important in terms of bloatware (systray programs)

Should I remove IBM Acess Connections, the anti-shock thing as i know it probably takes up resources/batteries cuz it runs in the background 24/7... Xtreme Graphics systray icon thing, Access IBM Message Center, and should i use windows to manage my wireless connections or use the IBM application?

You can get rid the Access IBM stuff if you want. There is a lot of good stuff there. All you wanted to know about you notebook and more. I would not get rid of the Active Protection. If you were to drop it, it has a much better chance of surviving with it installed. Good Luck.
