I just bought this Thinkpad at the beginning of December, and I am thinking it may not have been the right choice for me. It is a very capable laptop but I think I may want something else. I am wondering where would be the best place to sell it, or if a return to Lenovo is possible? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Returns to Lenovo can only be made within 21 days, and for a 15% restocking fee. Your best bet at this point is to resell it on eBay, Craigslist, or on the Marketplace here at NBR (you will need to get >20 quality posts before you can post a listing, however).

Ok, thanks for your help!

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Yup to what MidnightSun said. Since it is practically brand new I would try to sell it ASAP as you will be able to recoup most of the cost and pray the Ebay buyer doesn't know about the new models.

How easy is it to sell you laptop on the NBR marketplace. I thinking about selling one down the road. What payment option is normally used in these type of transaction.

You might want to try the marketplace forum on ThinkPads.com. You'll find many more ThinkPad enthusiasts there, i.e. potential buyers.

I am planning to sell my x120e, so user from the Thinkpads.com might even not consider it since it is a non-thinkpad.

Assuming you spent $500 on the brand new X120e, the restocking fee will be $75. It would be difficult to avoid such a setback (or worse) if you sold it at the NBR forum or the Thinkpads forum, plus waiting and negotiating. You would have to pay a fee if you listed on eBay.
Instead of selling the X120e, I would return it to Lenovo (within 21 days) and gladly accept the restocking fee. -
@Kaso: I would assume that k2001 is trying to make a profit from the pricing glitch where an X120e could be obtained for ~$300-350
If that is the case, though, I'm sure you're not the only one, and I know many people on Slickdeals bought 2, one during the DOS glitch and one during the Adobe X glitch. The marketplace will be filled with X120e laptops soon enough. -
I am planning to use it till the x220 get a sale. I am not trying make a profit. I will be very happy if I can sell it for $300.
-
when the x220 gets on sale it will be many months away at least. by then your x120e wont be worth 300 bucks used vs new ones direct from lenovo with discounts

I know that is why I am debating whether to sell this sucker now, give it to a family member or just keep it as a backup machine.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that why do you need all that power for such a small portable laptop when for that price you can get a true core i laptop with real gaming gpu or you can get a better one in m11x r2.
But hey I'm not criticizing your choice, it is your money and you can do whatever you want with it so it's none of my business. -
I am not that into gaming so x220 would going to be my primary pc (occasional sc2, l4d2), I can get rid of the normal size laptop and x120e. The small screen size does not bother me at all since I am accustomed to it; I use my netbook all the time in college. The less device the more easier to do backup. The processor and the screen on the x120e is not that great for video and picture editing, which I am planning to do in the near future when I get myself a DSLR.
Best way to sell my Thinkpad?
