    Hi guys,

I wanted to see if you guys had any advice as to things I should do (software-wise) to my x220 to optimize it for performance, battery life etc (ie. remove programs I'll never use/ are inefficient etc.).

As a note, I'm a student so perhaps that changes things.

Thanks for all the advice! The amount of stuff I've learned from this forum in a few weeks has been mind blowing lol.

Can't help you as I do not have my X220T yet.. But, I'm curious, why would being a student change things?

    I'm a student...
Anyways, I didn't change a single thing out of the box on my T420 other than adding 4gb more RAM and a 500gb HDD in the ultrabay.
It is fast, no excess processes running.
Its not like a Sony that has 3gb of junkware running out of the box, totally different experience.

Ya don't see how being a student changes things.

What I would do is when you first start up the computer is the create recovery media (with an external optical drive). See if you like the stock image. If you want, disable some of the ThinkVantage software. But with my Z61t's going from clean install to Lenovo image didn't make a big difference IMO.
