I have recently purchased T420 and wondering what is the preferred method of installing SSD. I want to use the SSD as the primary boot up drive so would I be better of replacing the HDD or be using the SSD in caddy be enough?

    Thanks.

Just my opinion here, if you can find an Intel SSD, that's the way to go unless you need WWAN. Then you can use a larger platter based drive for storage. Speed isn't as important for storage.

What Zaz says. That's what I did in my T420. Put in an Intel 80gb 310 mSATA and kept the 500gb HD for data. Works great. Depends on your storage requirements. The mSATA weighs quite a lot less than a full drive. You could, I suppose, go on a weight-shaving binge and remove both the HD and the DVD (use a stripped, empty drive tray from ebay instead). That'd probably lighten it up by about a half pound.
