    Best way to disable turbo memory?

    Hey guys I am fed up with my computer bsod'ing and freezing...im just gonna do a clean install...AGAIN...but this time is it better to not download the turbo mem driver? is that the best way to go..or download it..but make sure it is disabled?

    by not downloading the driver..it is essentially disabled, correct? thanks

    Check your BIOS's advanced settings, too. I believe most notebooks with Turbo Memory support have an option to disable Robson/Turbo Memory in the BIOS, as well.

    The problem with just not installing a driver is that Windows is going to pop up a hardware wizard to try to nag you into reinstalling it. Not a huge deal, but an annoyance you're better off without.

    i tried looking all over the place in bios, and cannot figure out how to disable it there...i dont think it's even in there....anyways....i still haven't installed the driver and so far windows is not nagging me

    If you don't have the driver installed, then you won't have the Turbo Memory Console. Then you don't have Turbo Memory enabled. If you have the Console (which is an application) then you can disable TM there.


    If you disable Turbo Memory in the BIOS by changing from AHCI to Compatibility mode, which you can do, it will slow your machine down a lot and force you to reactivate your copy of VISTA. Only consider that as a last resort.

    thanks...after you said that im not gonna mess around with the bios at all...i did a clean install again and didnt bother to download turbo driver...therefore not even enabling it...didnt have any problems yet (keeping fingers crossed)
