I've not bothered with the new thinkpads (or similar business notebook) and by now I think something has to fit the requirements. A thinkpad is preferred as I can get EPP or a good outlet deal. But I'm ok with an Elitebook, Precision, latitude, etc

Precision will weigh more than 4 pounds. As it is a workstation. 16GB/32GB is also a workstation job. Which means you will have to compromise on something. And QHD will make it far more expensive too. About the only other business class machines which come closest to most of your needs are going to be HP ZBook 15, HP EliteBook W series, or Lenovo ThinkPad W series. All have nice screens but no QHD or higher res screens. Which means Gaming laptop otherwise.
